I have a very important announcement but first I’d like to explain the reasons behind it and why it is so important to me as a business owner and an employer.
Most of you know me as “Bex” professional hair stylist, I am also the entrepreneur behind the quirkydo brand.
Over the last 10 years I have spun many plates and worn many hats : wife, parent, daughter, granddaughter, sister and leader to my team.
Work-life balance is something that tends to be very difficult in our industry. I constantly ask myself why are we often left feeling like we have to choose between family, hobbies or our careers?
When I opened my first salon one of my goals was to be the best boss I could be and for quirkydo to be a fab place to work, “happy team, happy guests”. I didn’t want my team to have to work crazy hours with no breaks and no time or energy for anything else in their lives.
Covid has only re-enforced the fact of how important it is to strike that balance.
The hair industry is creating a movement that feels aligned with my ethos and the culture I want for the team at quirkydo – “We Don’t Do Saturdays!” (WDDS).
I believe giving my team a full weekend off, Saturday and Sunday will give them a chance to fully recuperate, spend time with family and friends promoting a sense of physical and mental well being which in turn can only enhance the service we offer.
Therefore as of 23rd October 2021 we are jumping on board with this campaign and closing our doors on Saturdays.
We will open extra hours in the week and work Monday with late nights available for those who can’t make it in the day time.
If you are concerned about any appointments you already have booked in please reach out to me and I will do my absolute best to find a time that works for you.
Thank you for your continued support.
